Senator Cynthia Villar gave her keynote address during the Department of Agriculture – Caraga's 8th Regional Organic Agriculture Congress (ROAC) where organic farmers, practitioners, and stakeholders all over the region met for a three-day congress from July 4 to 6. She promoted the Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) in organic agriculture where producers and farmers are certified as actual and active practitioners of organic agriculture and is a cheaper certification than the third party certification which is P150,000 per crop per year.
The event recognized different groups and individuals with outstanding initiatives and successful implementation of organic farming practices.
National Organic Agriculture Program Director Bernadette San Juan graced the 8th Caraga ROAC. Director San Juan presented the Roles and Responsibilities of LGUs in the implementation of the NOAP Programs pursuant to RA10068 as amended by RA11511 or the Participatory Guarantee System Law authored by Senator Cynthia Villar.
